Hey! So, for the past week or so ive gotten into having a bit of a self-care routine every night at the minute. I started having issues with going to sleep, as someone who after many sleep issues in my teen years was able to sleep with no issue. But now, i have been getting anxious about the idea of going too sleep, as someone who responds well to the pampering side of self care and i also needed to start taking better care of more than just my face! i brought in a routine that has really been helping.
So generally i am a massive night owl, and myself and friends will generally stop playing video games and go to bed between 1-3am. So, at this point i turn off my pc move my water bottle & phone near my bed and then i get my room sorted, i draw my blinds and tidy up my bed if i dumped stuff on it! I then will get a youtube video going on my phone, currently its generally a video from thrift thick (please check her out i adore her!) then i get all the products i need out and put them onto the corner of my dressing table that i use as a night stand, before i get changed & go off to cleanse my face brush my teeth etc.
So i always double cleanse, ive always been a massive fan of doing this and i start with generally the super facialist vitamin C+ skin renew cleansing oil £10.99 this is hands down my favourite cleansing oil, ive used it for years and will continue to do so! it cleanses without stripping, it isnt super oily or heavy and it smells like oranges! for my second cleanse, i go with either the botanics all bright gentle cleansing cream £5.49 witch is very gentle and good for when my skin is dryer or the B. creamy foam cleanser £6.99 during the summer and when my skin is oiler. Both staples in my bathroom cupboard!
Once im back in my room i turn off my light and do everything else just by the light of my phone, i do this purely because i dont wanna have to get back up and turn my light off again! continuing with skincare, i use an acid toner, at the minute ive been enjoying the Freedom makeup london pro studio radiance tonic £ 6.00, this is really good, pretty gentle but still helps to remove dead skin cells using good old acid! (nice acid!), after this ive really gotten into using a hydrating facial spritz, my choice being the B. hydrated hyaluronic acid spritz £7.99, i am going through this so fast! i think this was hands down what kept my skin from being dry during the heat wave when i didnt want anything on my face!
Then i use a serum, ive really been enjoying the superdrug vitamin c invigorating skin booster £4.99 at the moment, of course i love the smell! but it also adds an extra layer of hydration and softness that i love. Finally for my face, i use a night cream and i wrote a whole review about these garnier natural 3 in 1 soothing rose botanical balm £12.99 witch you can read here, but the short version is hydrating, calming and lovely!
With all that on my face, i turn my attention to the rest of my body! now i have never liked putting body cream on, i hate the feeling so that doesnt happen. But i have been finally paying my feet some attention, i have very difficult problematic feet (this, is an understatement) we are talking cracks so deep they bleed bad, and having to be bandaged up earlier this year! my foot cream of choice right now is the scholl hard skin softening cream £5.99. i have to be honest however i dont know if its as heavy duty as my feet need! so if you have a suggestion please let me know!
now, i lay down and watch the youtube video for a bit, as it gets closer to the end i pop on a lip balm. ive really been liking the REN vita mineral lip balm £10.50 lately, i think this was a freebie in a box at some point? but however i got it, i really like how smooth it feels on the lips and its very hydrating, its still on in the morning! the very last thing i do beauty product wise is pop on some hand cream, ive been going for this NAOBAY orange juice hand cream £11.50 currently, another box item! because its on the lighter side so good for the summer, but its still very hydrating and plus side it smells amazing (can you tell i like orange smelling things?).
and with that, i close my phone and go to sleep and generally this little routine as really been helping me unwind and not be quite so anxious at night!
