Blogging on a budget.

Hey there! so over the years blogging has become something that i think is honestly a bit out of control, you can tend to feel a bit over looked if your not blogging about the latest products, with the best pictures & photo props, perfect lighting and back drops and it can be concerning, especially if you are on a tight budget and a lot of that is out of your budget. Obviously for the bigger bloggers the new product problem is solved by Pr, but if you are on the smaller side like me if you want to blog about a new product you will be buying it, however i have over the years that i have read and written blogs picked up some tips for blogging on a budget.

1. Dont give in to pressure
This is honestly my biggest tip, with all these blogs showing the latest products, new reviews and new sparkly things to show every week. With perfect pictures and back drops, it can be very easy to feel like you will only get noticed in the blogging world if you compete with all these things which means throwing a lot of money at your blog. But you dont need to do this, you can and will get noticed if you have good content, you dont need to look as professional as everyone else!

2. phone cameras are fine.
Blog photos, the bane of most bloggers existence but its not actually as bad as it seems, you do not need a ring light, perfect back drops & a super pricey camera to get good blog photos. An iphone camera works fine (saying iphone because that is what i have) you dont need a state of the art camera back drop or lighting. natural light is awesome, works best if you just find somewhere near a window. for background, blankets, scrap fabrics, pretty clothes, trays etc all work really well.

3. Be creative
One thing about blogging on a budget means you may have to get creative, and that too me is a lot of fun though i know not everyone finds having to think outside of the box that fun and it can be frustrating! of course blogging is a creative exercise anyway, its just on a budget you may have to be even more so. Using blankets, scraps of fabric, jewellery, random nick nacks for picture back grounds and props for example! It also means thinking out of the box for your posts, what can you talk about that requires just words maybe? what do you already own that you can talk about? etc

4. Pound shops, discount shops and sales/offers are your best friends.
You can get so many beauty products and the like for at a discount or on offer these days, try and base when you may be buying said things around that! I always try and hold off on buying stuff from boots until theres a triple points offer, i live in places like poundland, B & m, home bargains etc. Amazon is also a useful place for bulk buying or when they have there offers on, and of course you can also always write posts about these places themselves so its win win!

5. Prioritise.
When it comes to spending on your blog and for your blog, prioritise what you need and were you spend. For example, you dont need to spend much on a domain, i got mine on godaddy for just over a pound a year! but a good blog banner and button if you cant do it yourself is worth spending a little bit on, as it is often the first thing people will see. For the most part spending 100s on advertising isnt worth it, ive advertised with a few people here and there but i tend to always go back to jordanne, i get the £3 package and thats enough! you dont need to spend £100s if you dont have it.

So there are my blogging on a budget tips! im sure theres more, maybe ill do a part 2 at some point? let me know if you think thats a good idea!

The Body Shop facial mask duo review.

Hey there! So its been a while since ive done a review, and im sorry about that its what happens when things just get a bit busy! im really hoping to keep on top of things more now, cross your fingers.

Anyway, i wanted to talk about this mask duo i got at Christmas, because i have completely fallen in love with both of them! I got the body shop our finest facial mask duo £32.00 and was super pleased, having wanted to try the updated body shop face masks for a while.

In the duo you get the Himalayan charcoal purifying glow mask & the British rose fresh plumping mask. These type of masks are for sure my most used, a classic mud/charcoal one and a gel texture one. The face masks retail for £17.00 each so you dont save a massive amount buying them together but if you are gonna buy both anyway you might as well and it does also make a brilliant gift like how i got mine as its in a lovely box.

So lets start with the Himalayan charcoal purifying glow mask

Years ago, i tried the original glam glow mask and though it isnt worth the price tag (in my opinion) at all, it was still very good. Well, this mask gives it a run for its money for sure in my opinion. It is a classic mud mask, with the charcoal showing through in its colour, it also has the trait that glam glow is known for, it has bits of mud and such in it, so it isnt smooth in texture. Its easy to apply and you dont need a tonne to cover your face, and then you let it do its thing! it begins drying pretty fast, much faster than i expected it too, but while its drying you can really see it working! it also feels lovely and cooling on the skin, i do find though that the downside to this is it can be a bugger to get off! it is a real bitch to get off, its one that is best removed in the shower honestly, and you need a flannel for sure because it comes off in flakes and generally is a nightmare, but personally for me its worth it i really like it.

The British rose fresh plumping mask is another one right my ally, especially over the past year or so ive gotten very into using gel texture hydrating masks. And honestly one of my favourite things to do is to use a clay/charcoal mask then use a hydrating gel mask afterwards. And this is a really nice one, its not overpoweringly rose scented which is important because if it was too strong it would be annoying to use! but its not, its very gentle and cooling and hydrating. it also comes off very easily, which is always nice!

So yeah, all in all i really like this set of face masks, ill be sad when they run out and hope to pick up some more soon!

My Current Favourites January/February 2018.

Hey there! so i haven’t done any favourites in a….(remembers 2018 favourites) well ok, i haven’t done current favourites in a while so i thought i would show you and talk to you about some of my current favourites at the minute.

Beauty

So, beauty! have to be honest, i thought i had more beauty favourites than this, but those that i have i do really like a lot!

B. multi acid retexturising facial pads £5.99
I bought these exfoliating pads just before Christmas and i have almost used up the whole tub which tells you how much i like them! i love acid exfoliators  but they can often be on the pricey side, these are really budget friendly but still work really well and have really been keeping any dry winter skin problems at bay.

The body shop facial mask duo £32.00
(Himalayan charcoal and British rose).
This is kind of cheating because its 2 products, but i did get them together so it does make sense too! i got these for Christmas, and i have really fallen in love with them, the charcoal one reminds me an awful lot of glamglow that i tried many years ago now but it doesn’t come with its price tag! it makes my skin feel super clean, but not stripped, its just a really good way to make sure theres no yuck in my skin. The rose one is also lovely, its hydrating but also surprisingly cooling on the skin and ive found it really soothing, perfect for the colder months. I really rate both of this, highly suggest you give them a try, and i hope to try some more from the body shops face mask range soon!

MUA pixel-perfect multi blush in pink blossom £3.00
Ill admit that ive kept a lot of my makeup very much the same, but a product that i bought just before Christmas that ive really been liking is this MUA blush. When i ordered it i thought it was going to be a very light pink/purple blush, maybe with a tiny bit of shimmer but nothing over the top however it turns out to be pretty much non-pigmented. However, i have found that the shimmer it contains is really fine, and the tiny bit of pigment makes it work really well as just like a brightener really. I use it on my cheeks, forehead nose and chin and i like that it lifts everything, but i dont look super instagram glowy, i just look a little bit more alive.

Loreal elvive phytoclear intensive scalp scrub.
This is one of those items that you pick up on a whim and end up really falling in love with. I picked this up in poundstretcher, Not really thinking too much about it but wanting to try a scalp scrub as i do feel that hair dye build up can really cause havoc with my scalp sometimes and boy am i glad i gave it a go! it looks like a body scrub, but what you do is wet your scalp/hair, and then massage this into your scalp really paying attention to the trouble spots, i made sure to go along my hair line and behind my ears too. It feels super cooling but didn’t irritate my scalp at all, then i just rinsed it out before using shampoo & conditioner, it rinses out pretty easily, but i wouldn’t overly worry because any bits that dont get rinsed out are shampooed out without issue. The end result is a really clean, smooth scalp/root area, and ive had less of an itchy head for sure! i just hope i can find it again.

Cleaning

Flash bathroom cleaner spray £1.00
Ive mentioned before that ive been hinched and i really enjoy cleaning, so i thought i would add my favourite cleaning product of the moment into these posts! At the minute it just has to be the flash bathroom spray, easily the product ive re-bought the most, i love this for cleaning my bathroom, either if its at the weekend all over my bath etc or a quick mid week sink clean, it leaves everything super clean and shiny without much work and it also smells so good!

Watching

Critical role
What ive been obsessed with watching lately isnt a new thing for me, but i still adore it. I have been watching critical role since october 2017, i caught up with the first campaign a few days before the second one started and ive been watching campaign 2 on Fridays/Saturdays without fail since. If you dont know what critical role is, critical role is a live streamed dnd game played by various voice actors. Its an amazing show, and since Christmas ive been re-watching campaign 1 and its made me love it even more. Campaign 2 has had some really jaw dropping juicy moments lately and ive been completely gripped!

Listening

Amaranthe
It was a few months ago now that a couple of my friends introduced me to the Swedish rock band Amaranthe and that has been the only thing on my spotify ever since. I really love how different they are, with 2 lead singers, a man and a women and there lyrics are also amazing. One of my friends that got me into them saw them this week and i am so very jealous!

alright, thats my current favourites, what are yours right now? let me know!

The Therapy Diaries – A Positive Out look.

Hey there! so i haven’t done an update on therapy in a little while, so i thought now was as good a time as any to let you know how its going. So at the time of writing i got back from therapy a couple of hours ago, im on the last 3 sessions i have with her now, so we have split them up over 6 weeks and this was the first one with a two week gap in between.

I had a lot happen over these 2 weeks, i found out that asking for my benefits being taken down to be reconsidered had been declined, friendship troubles & trying to nurse a poorly guinea pig back to health who sadly lost his fight, it wasn’t a quiet 2 weeks!

But we also spoke a lot about how i am slowly understanding and accepting that recovery in the end can only be something you do for yourself and im also beginning to want to do it for myself too. When i met my therapist i had basically given up, i didnt think i had any other chance any more but thanks too my therapist, i found hope again.

I found a reason to fight, and for once it wasn’t in someone else, for once it was for me, i wasn’t fighting for anyone else but myself and my therapist had pushed me in the direction to do so. And now, i still feel that way, i want to recover, i want to get better but i want to do it for myself, of course other people come into my thinking but mainly its for me and what i want. And thats how it should be, i should be recovering for myself, because after all i have to put in all the hard work!

So therapy is really positive at the moment, we have been doing positive qualities diaries and ive actually managed to think of positive qualities that i think i have myself now, and im not just going by what other people tell me.

And being able to write these down, actually started with the guinea pig i mentioned above. My mum works in a primary school, and they have guinea pigs and one of them got very poorly so myself and my mum gave him the best chance we could and syringe fed him every hours for most of a day. Sadly, he didnt make it but doing this made me think something.

Regardless of the human or the creature, if they need me i will help, a bumble bee or a great white shark, my best friend or my school bully if they need someone i will always be willing to help. And it was then that i knew what my first positive quality trait was, and that i also knew that little marmite had taught me a valuable lesson.

So even with a lot of things happening, im feeling really positive right now and thats, well thats lovely.

I hope it sticks.

*Herbal Salve 5% CBD Oil Review.

Hey there! so today im bringing you a review of something ive wanted to try for a while now, CBD oil. Its been toted around for a while now as a natural, powerful way to treat anxiety, depression and a long list of various pains. But due to the price ive never taken the leap to try it, so i was very excited to be sent 5% CBD oil from salve herbal.

Salve herbal was formed because the owners struggled to find the right kind of high quality CBD on the market that could help manage things like anxiety. They sell three different strengths, 5% which is the one i have and thats £19.99, 10% which is and 20% which is.

So the CBD is in a small glass bottle with a dropper, and what you do is put a few drops under your tongue, hold it for 60 seconds then swallow and you are meant to do this twice a day, adjusting the amount of drops as you go along depending on the strength you need.

The biggest thing that you will notice about CBD oil, and something i was warned about too is that this stuff tastes horrible! which to be honest is no surprise, considering what it comes from. If you have ever smelt hemp, you will know its not exactly the kind of thing you would put in a candle!

And yeah, its tastes awful, someone discribed it as old socks but i think it tastes more like dirt. Its not nice at all, but if you buck it up and have a strongly flavoured drink ready to wash it down your ok! i tended to have juice or a fizzy drink ready to wash it down and that was fine its honestly not the worst thing in the whole world to have to taste!

I started with 3 drops but i quickly increased the drops up very quickly, i took it morning and night and have been for a couple of weeks now, to see if would help with my anxiety, depression and pain in my joints and aching overall at all.

and has it?

sort of.

I think that if i really wanted to feel a massive difference i would have to go for a high percentage, but even on the 5% i did find some differences. My pain is still bad and sometimes overwhelming but it did help with the aching in my legs and the fact that i sometimes get restless legs from the pain, it helped that. Ive felt calmer, even with my anxiety being at its normally high levels i have felt over all just more peaceful and calmer and this is the only thing i can put it down too really!

I dont honestly think i would buy this myself, but this is purely down to feeling that it isnt worth the price tag for what it does for me. if i could afford the higher percentage i would for sure give it a go but i just cant at the moment.

However, i am glad i tried it, the restless legs have been an issue for a while and finding a way to ease them is really nice, its worth the taste!

Have you tried CBD oil? did it help you?

I was sent this product free of charge to consider it for review, this does not effect my opinion what so ever.

*Online dating profile tips

Hey there! so today im talking about something a little bit different, though it is something ive done for many years now! and thats online dating, i think at this point if you have been actively dating over the past few years you have likely tried some form of online dating. I know i have! ive used dating sites on and off for over 7 years now, so along the way you can imagine that i have picked up a number of tips, tricks and do’s and donts.

completely free dating sites

January is the busiest time of year on dating sites, with a lot of people wanting to find love in the new year. I have paid for dating sites before but you really dont need to do that! theres plenty of completely free dating sites based out there, like match me happy. I am very pleased to be working with match me happy on this post, as they are one of the few free dating sites uk based, to talk to you all about putting together the best dating profile you can so that you have the best chance!

I will of course say, this isn’t fail safe! Everybody is different so not everyone will like you or your profile, and that is completely normal and just part of online dating. If you get turned down, if a message isnt replied too etc dont be too upset, with online dating you have so many people around, so many people talking to each other and such that your bound to find some you dont gel with and thats fine.

So, below im going to list some of my top tips to think about when your making an online dating profile!

1. Have pictures! (of your face)  you would think this was obvious, but its so important you have a selection of pictures on your profile and a good clear selfie as your profile picture. Of course a good point about dating sites is that you can get to know the person before the judgement of looks comes into it but having pictures shows that your not a troll, your real and it also gives a face to text on a screen. Also with this, please dont have purely pictures of animals or a load of dic/boob/ab pics, those kind of pictures are not what i mean and are not helpful!

2. Put time into your profile – too many times ive clicked on a profile and found the very bare bones of info. A name, age and height maybe and the whole about section empty, “will fill in later”, “i cant be bothered ask me if you want to know something” or “i dunno ask me”. I know it can be difficult to talk about yourself but you are basically trying to sell yourself, and any of the above examples is not going to do that! take your time to fill out your profile, answer as many questions as the site poses to you and fill in the about me. It wont take years and it will go a long way to getting responses.

3. Dont give away too much (or too little!) – It can be tough to get the balance right, but in your profile make sure you give enough info so that people are drawn in and have something to message you about but dont give away so much that they have nothing to ask you about! if you have a profile that is pages long and tells your entire life story what are people meant to message you about? so give away some things (like, i love books) but dont give away every single thing (my first ever book i read when i was 4 and it was the tiger that came to tea).

4. Be honest – It can be very tempting to tell little white lies here and there in your profile. Like downgrading your weight, upgrading your height, knocking a few years off etc! but honestly, your best off being honest, if your not you could easily be found out if you end up meeting that person. Obviously it should also go without saying that you should always use pictures of yourself never anyone else and you should never create a completely fictional person, because this is mean, cruel and dangerous.

5. Update and refresh regularly – We are all changing, all the time so its only right that sometimes you need to revisit your profile and give it a refresh so that information doesn’t become out of date and invalid. No good if your profile says your 24 when your actually 26! Same thing with pictures, if you dye your blonde hair green make sure you update your picture, its just helpful so that it doesn’t unintentionally look misleading or lazy.

So there you have it! my tips for making your profile the best you can, i hope this helps some of you at least!

Emotionally Broken – Because i dont have a chance.

Hey there! so i haven’t done a emotionally broken post in a while, but ive had some stuff on my mind lately that i wanted to write about.

I am a big fan and follower of critical role, a dnd twitch stream that is basically amazing. The weekend just gone in LA they had a critical role art show & live show, the whole weekend looked completely amazing. And even though it wouldn’t be realistic to think that i could go to that even if i was well & recovered, i still felt very jealous.

And i tend to feel this every time something like this pops up, comic cons and live events, gigs etc i get jealous. I stalk the pictures and the tweets and make it worse for myself, soaking it up beating myself up for something that is so far from my reach.

And yesterday i was thinking, why do i do this? with something like the LA shows, even if i was recovered and well its not realistic to think i could go to something like that, its across the world and of course money is always a factor!

But i dont think that is the point really, its because regardless of anything else, i dont have a chance to begin with. Theres no “oh i wish i lived closer!” or “if i had the money”, mines more “going to tescos 10 minutes away takes 3 days of prep and 2 days of recovery, LA is like going to the moon for me”.

The fact that i couldn’t have that, that regardless of anything else i cant go to shows, gigs, cons, i cant meet up with friends or go out to dinner, i cant even go to supermarkets or go for a walk to the park.

I dont even have the chance, and thats what really gets me.

Soo many people have told me over the years that you never know what peoples lives are really like, that i should never be jealous, but without really meaning too i am. Because it doesn’t always matter about the life i dont see, they are still getting something i dont have the chance at.

Thats enough.

And then of course the guilt kicks in, i dont want to be jealous, of course id rather be happy with what i have, but im not and that sucks. I mean of course its not abnormal to be unhappy with what you have, but it doesn’t make it suck any less.

But, of course you have to find ways to get through these things, so i tell myself that one day i will get what i want, and i will be able to go to gig and cons and see friends and live life.

Its the only thing you can do, and sometimes it can feel like im feeding myself the biggest lie. But i need it to keep going, so i keep going, with the hope that one day i wont stare at my phone wishing i was there, but i will stare at pictures a few days later smiling because it was, that i actually had the chance.

*Thrive: mental wellness app.

Hey there! So today i have a review of a very interesting phone app for you, I was very kindly given the chance to try out the thrive: mental wellbeing app for IOS. Thrive, is a app made to help prevent and manage stress, anxiety and depression, it also contains a lot of cognitive behaviour therapy based ideas and activities.

Everyday when you log into the app you see the mood meter, what you choose on the mood meter then will decide what you see next.

So if you go closer to the sun (happier/positive mood) you then get –

You then get to choose why you are happy.

Then if you go closer to the stormy clouds –

You then choose why you are feeling this way
Then you add more detail
Describe the reactions you had

And what you did, you can choose to add a custom bubble (as you can see from my nothing and my typoed nothinf) or to remove some and have different ones come in with the more button.

You then pick the thoughts that you had and where making you feel shitty
And finally, you can pick a logical, more positive way to see the situation

This mood meter comes up the first time you log into the app everyday, but you can also access it at any time.

Im rather meh about the mood meter, it feels good to do when your in a good mood but if your in a not so good mood you dont always wanna explain why or try and be logical about it,i think it should be more optional than it currently is.

The first time you log into the app and once a week there after you do a questionnaire, if you have ever done any kind of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) you will likely know this questionnaire as you tend to do this at the start of every session.

Its a lengthy questionnaire so i haven’t shown all the questions, but once you have answered all of them you get your results –

I understand why they do this, and that they do these quizzes and the responses and the suggestions because of the “crisis”. but honestly, they need to make this work a bit differently! im a sufferer of severe anxiety, my anxiety will always be severe even on a good day. For me its not a crisis, maybe asking what is normal for you at first would be a good step? so shouting crisis at people doesn’t scare or upset someone.
Once your logged in,you go to your daily goals you get 3 goals a day, generally the top one is one of the apps that either help with relaxation or distraction. The middle one is always doing something like going for a walk, talking to someone etc and the end one always tends to be applied relaxation.

You collect points and levels as you achieve your goals, you can also choose to do any of the above activities at any time, they are all for relaxation, calming down or distraction. my personal favourite is the deep muscle relaxation, for 3 minutes a calming female voice will talk you through tensing each part of your body and then slowly relaxing them. Ive never liked this type of thing, but i actually find that this one really calms me down and helps.

There are a lot of different options with the apps which is great, but i do find that some the activities can be difficult to understand. smart words was one that i really struggled with, i couldn’t figure out how to use it for ages! and if you click one of them through your goals and not the home screen you dont get any instruction, it drove me mad! it took me ages to figure out there was someone talking, making everything clearer would help a lot.

You can also see your progress weekly, and see your progress in the past to and see how you are doing over a longer period of time.

Thrive is an app you need to pay for, its £5.99 per month, £14.99 quarterly or £49.99 yearly. obviously its no small thing to pay for a phone app, if its worth it would of course be completely down to you and your love of the app and your money. but personally for me? no i wouldn’t pay for this app.

It is a good app, however it isnt something i would pay £6 a month for, its too much money for what thrive is for me. I think that if you find all the relaxation tools useful and that the app makes a massive difference, then yes i think it really could be useful! but for me, the downsides just tip the scales for me.

i still suggest trying it out however if you can, even if just for a month because everyone is so different it may be brilliant and incredibly helpful for you.

Have you tried thrive before? or any other mental wellness apps?

Favourite products 2018 – makeup.

Hey there! so if you didnt catch it in my last post im doing a little two-part series of my favourite products of 2018, my last post here was about all my favourite skincare products, this one is all about my favourite makeup products! i really wanted to do this especially because i saw anna (the anna edit) show how she had 8 years of her yearly favourites, and i thought that was really cool! anyway, long post incoming so lets get going.

Primer – smashbox photo finish foundation.
This is no surprise, this has been my go to foundation primer for a while now and theres good reason. Its one of those old fashioned favourites we often forget about these days! its a silicone based clear primer that smooths out the skin and makes everything apply better and last longer.

Foundation –
Estee lauder double wear stay-in-place foundation in shell.
This has been my go to foundation for a few years now and i doubt that is going to change any time soon! its lasting power is amazing, coverage is highly build able and i honestly haven’t found anything that beats it for me.

Concealer – revolution conceal & define concealer in C1.

I highly doubt that i am the only one that has this on there list, has this concealer came out in 2018 and everyone loved it so much that they brought out a supersize! If im honest, i wasnt actually too sure about this concealer at first, i thought it was a bit too heavy and the colour was off, but mixing a drop or two of whitener in made all the difference and im a big fan now! its super good coverage, not cakey or heavy (just dont use too much!) and lasts really well.

Powder – elf HD setting powder.
2018 was the year i had to admit defeat, stop buying every compact that i could find of the maybelline dream matte powder in rose nude, and find a different setting powder that i liked. asking around, a friend suggested elf hd setting powder and im so glad she did! ive actually gone through the whole tub, theres only a tiny bit left and theres very good reason why. Its actually got no colour to it, its not translucent but actually has an orange cast, it sets everything firm in place but doesnt look cakey at all either. perfect!

Contour – NYX high definition blush in taupe.

2018 was the year that i had to stop holding on to discontinued items and find something new, and after using the makeup gallery single eyeshadow for years i needed a new contour powder after basically strapping the pan clean. again i asked around and this one kept coming up and now have ive used it for a while i see why, its a good tone for us very pale people, and the powder itself is really easy to use.

Blusher –  lots of them!
blusher is the one product that i spent ages thinking about and im still not sure, its the product i mix up a lot and i dont really stick with one. i tried to pick one, but i just couldnt stick with one, i think i did have a favourite shade, which is a blue based almost bubblegum pink. but then again saying that i also really got back into the more muted dusty rose pinks so i really dont know! the blushers pictures were some of my favourites however, and i would suggest any of them.

Highlighter – obsession powder highlight in moon.

Oh it just had to be this one really! i adore this highlighter, it sits in this little 6 pan palette i have with the matte black from obsession and a purple eyeshadow too that i use all the time and theres good reason. This is a in your face, bright shining silver-purple highlight, its not “natural” a “glow from within” nothing like that, but thats exactly why i love it! i also love it for my inner corners too.

Eye primer – Nars pro prime smudge proof eyeshadow base.

This really isnt a surprise, seeing has this is the only primer ive used for a while now! i was a die hard fan of urban decay primer potion for years, but after a while i found it just wasnt enough for my oily heavily hooded lids. However, nars is, it can keep my eyeshadow on for 8+ hours (tested on christmas day, as i dont tend to wear makeup for ages) no issue, its honestly the best ive found.

Eyeshadow base/cream eyeshadow – revolution pro pigment pomade in jet black.
I tend to always wear a cream eyeshadow over my primer and before powders, i find everything looks better and lasts longer this way. Again this was a product i needed to change, because even though the maybelline colour tattoos still exist, the colour timeless black does not. So it was good timing when revolution brought out these little pots of cream pigment that can be used for pretty much anything, this pot pictured is brand new because i lost my old one, and i think that says everything really! pigmented, long lasting and blendable.

Eyeshadow – nyx ultra hot shots single eyeshadow in ultra violet.
the single eyeshadow had to be the one that i bought 9 of when i heard it was discontinuing really didnt it?, i love this matte eyeshadow, its one of the few matte purples that actually has the right undertone that i like, its also super blendable and pigmented, win! im sad its been discontinued, but im not running out for a while!

Eyeshadow palette – revolution pro regeneration trends mischief mattes.
Now i could of said the obsession palette i use all the time but i made that myself, and i could of said the sleek bad girl palette that i use all the time but i only ever use one shadow out of that. So instead i went with the palette that impressed me the most in 2018, i did at the end of 2018 get two higher end palettes but i havent had time to really try them out. But this palette blew me away in the summer, a palette full of bright matte colours, all pigmented and easy to blend, it really is a bargain and a must have if you like bright and different eyeshadows.

Liquid eyeliner – maybelline master ink matte eye liner.

i go through liquid eyeliner phases, and i got bored of my normal go to (bourjois liner pinceau) so i asked around and picked up this one and im glad i did! im picky about my liquid liners, they have to be matte, very black and easy to use, long lasting and cant flake. i wasnt sure about it at first due to the felt tip brush but actually i find its so fine i can use it pretty well, its matte and very black and lasts well, brilliant!

pencil liner – pixi endless silky eye pen in black nior.

This liner came back into my life in the latter half the year, but i have had and loved it before too! i had it a few years ago and used it to the very end very sad when it was finally gone. So i was glad when i got it back in a pink parcel this year, has i dont really wanna drop that amount of money on a black pencil liner! but it really is very good, very black, soft and glides well but when its set its not going anywhere, very glad to have it back!

mascara – soap & glory thick and fast HD mascara high definition collagen coat.
This mascara happened with one of those moments when you get something new, and you try it and you dont exactly hate it but you dont exactly love it either so it just gets left by the way side, but when you do go back to it you fall in love with it. That was what happened with this mascara for me, im glad i picked it back up! because its been the only mascara ive used for a few months now, and that is a rare thing to happen. It lengthens, volumises and is super black, i always top coat it with a waterproof mascara and ive had no issues with wear after doing that.

Lipstick – 17 mega matte lip colour in i lilac it a lot.
2018 really was the year of finding new products or replacements honestly! my beloved lipstick of choice for years, the barry m lip paint in 129 had a formula change, and it just doesn’t look or feel the same anymore. So on a mission i went, to find a replacement lipstick i liked! annoyingly, the lipstick i fell for is discontinued because the brand is gone. But all the same this is the lipstick i have been reaching for the most this year, its lilac but its, wearable lilac? if lilac can be wearable! anyway, looks like 2019 i need to find a replacement for my replacement.

Setting spray – revolution pro fix oil control makeup fixing spray.
Ive used the basic freedom setting spray for ages, but when i ran out i grabbed this revolution oil control one i had gotten as a gift and i really like it! i didn’t know if it would have the same effect, but it works well, keeps everything in place and removes the excess powdery look.

There you have it! boy that is a long post, well done if you got to the end! what was your makeup favourites? let me know.

Favourite Products of 2018 – Skincare.

Hey there! so i really wanted to do a post on my favourite products from 2018, i was just going to do makeup but then i thought i had loved skincare so much i didn’t really wanna do that,so ive split it off into two! in a few days you will get my post about my favourite makeup from this year, but this one is all about my favourite skincare. Its gonna be a long post, so lets get too it!

1st cleanse – The body shop scumptuous camomile cleansing butter.

This was a toss up for me because i have gone between 3 the whole year, but i think this cleansing butter wins for me. Its not greasy and it removes easily but it works so well, removing makeup or not!,I adore this cleansing balm, and i dont think that will change any time soon!

2nd cleanse/morning cleanse – Soap & glory peaches & clean deep cleansing milk.

This was extremely easy for me, i had a few years ago used and loved it but had moved on to different things. Im so glad i went back to it this year as i do not plan to have it leave my life again! its not drying, but it has a bit of a zing to it, its perfect for me.

Scrub – Loreal paris smooth sugar glow grape face and lip scrub. (Not shown).

I am so sad that i dont currently have this but im waiting to see it on offer! these came out this year, and ive tried the kiwi and grapefruit one and the grapefruit one is the best by far. I always thought that sugar scrubs would be too much for my face but actually they work really well and i loved how smooth this made my skin feel.

Face mask – Garnier pure active gel matcha detox green tea face mask.

This really has been the year of the face mask for me, i really like using them! i found this garnier face mask early on in the year and im really glad i did. Its clay based, but very cooling and not drying at all, its a really nice refreshing clay mask that makes your skin feel smooth and clean.

Acid – Revolution lactic acid & hyaluronic acid serum.

This was a tough choice to be honest, because i didn’t use much acid this year! ive only just started using acid again in its traditional toner form over the past few weeks. But i then remembered that i used this serum til it is basically empty and it is acid! i really like how gentle this is, my skin this has gotten slightly drier and more sensitive this year (im growing up, eek!) and even though this is helping at resurfacing, its also hydrating and that helps a lot.

hydrating spray – B. hydrated hyaluronic acid spritz.

This was the year that i got very into hydrating sprays and this was the spray that started it! over the summer and the awful heatwave, i would cleanse, spray a lot of this then use a light gel and call it a day and this was enough hydration! i really enjoy this, its not needed of course, but its a really nice extra level of hydration.

Serum – Hyaluronic acid.

So im kinda cheating here because i haven’t got a brand for this has ive used a few over the year, but my no1 serum “thing” for sure has been hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid has found its mainstream fame this year, and theres good reason why. I found it a really nice, easy serum adding light hydration that really felt like it worked, i need to get some more, soon!

Oil – Revolution skin nourishing CBD oil.

Revolution brought out there own skincare range this year, and of course i was all over it! CBD oil hit the headlines a lot this year but i haven’t really seen it much in skincare, though i dont know why! this is really lovely, super hydrating and gentle, a staple for my night time skincare.

Day cream – loreal paris hydra genius aloe moisturiser.

I have really struggled finding a day cream that i like this year much at all, but the one i enjoyed the most was for sure the loreal pure genius, gel textures are for sure the way to go and i think i may pick up some more of this soon!

Night cream – Soap & glory speed plump overnight moisture mousse.

Again just like the peaches & clean this is something ive loved and used in the past but had wondered off to other things. I am so glad i got back to it! its a lovely, quite rich but not heavy moose.

So there you have it! my favourite skincare of 2018, what was some of yours? let me know!
